Spring Flowers

Spring flowers are out in my backyard! Forsythia (above) and daffodils are blooming now. This is my attempt to arrange my backyard assortment in a Dutch tulip vase.

Sadly, it looks like flower sales are going down worldwide, according to the Flower Council of Holland (the world’s largest exporter of flowers and plants). Kenya, Israel and Ethiopia follow as the next largest exporters of flowers. Roses were the only flowers with an increase in sales and, unsurprisingly, they are also the top flower sold. I guess they didn’t measure filler flowers on this chart…

Thankfully, the botanical gardens never run out of flowers… The cherry trees at Brooklyn Botanical Garden are starting to blossom! Check out the map… it’s just a few around the edges but I can’t wait to see it when they are all in bloom!
