Books & Wallpaper — what more do you need?

April 15, 2010

The Antiquarian Bookseller’s Association of America hosted its annual (50th anniversary!) book fair at the Park Avenue Armory (Park Avenue and 67th Street) this past weekend. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to attend and missed all the meticulously bound and fragile treasures that I’m sure were on display. One thing, however, that I can still appreciate is the gorgeous wallpaper that was installed in the Armory for the show: Tom Slaughter’s Library wallpaper. Tom is a New York-based artist who has exhibited internationally and whose work is collected by the Whitney and the MoMA. He started exhibiting his work in 1983, with a show at the Drawing Center of New York. His style is very graphic with pop art influences and spans several media including paper cut out, drawing, prints and even metal work. You can view his website here.
